🤝 20+ Years Supporting Small Service Businesses
For over 20 years, I’ve worked alongside small service business owners as their calm-in-the-chaos right hand — managing everything from office administration, supplier coordination, and payroll to financial accounts and reporting, so they can focus on running (and growing) their businesses without losing sleep over the details.
Being trusted with the nuts-and-bolts of daily operations has given me a deep understanding of the pressures, wins, and “how did this happen?” moments that small business owners face every day — like missing invoices, unexpected tax deadlines, or the mystery of a disappearing receipt.
This hands-on experience not only sharpened my problem-solving skills and attention to detail but also gave me a front-row seat to the unique challenges and triumphs of running a small service business. It’s here that my passion for supporting business owners truly took root — helping them gain clarity, control, and confidence, all while keeping the process as stress-free (and occasionally fun) as possible.
📍 Where it all began
My professional journey started in 1992 at Old Mutual, where I worked as a Personal Assistant supporting financial advisors with new business processing, client onboarding, and day-to-day client care.
That early exposure gave me a solid foundation in finance and a deep appreciation for the value of accurate, organized records. I quickly realized that a few small mistakes in paperwork could ripple into bigger headaches for clients — and I was determined to make sure that never happened.
I further honed my financial skills at Hugh Rawdon & Associates, gaining hands-on experience with PAYE, VAT returns, and compliance processes. From there, I moved to Nyathi Sugar Ridge CC, where I expanded my responsibilities to include payroll, bookkeeping, and QuickBooks Pro management, learning how to make numbers tell a clear, actionable story.
These formative experiences set the stage for a career focused on helping small service businesses gain clarity, control, and confidence in their finances.
📈 High-value experience (without the panic)
At Wire Belt Systems S.A., I stepped into a role with serious responsibility — managing daily payments of up to R5,000,000 while maintaining relationships with international suppliers.
This role taught me how to navigate complex financial systems, high-value transactions, and tight deadlines — all without losing my cool (most days!). I became adept at invoicing, cash flow management, and international supplier relations, and learned that clear communication is just as important as numbers when money is on the line.
☁️Going remote — and staying there
In 2017, I transitioned into freelancing as a Remote Bookkeeper on Upwork, collaborating with clients across the globe. Supporting businesses online allowed me to streamline processes, implement cloud accounting solutions like QuickBooks and Twinfield, and offer hands-on bookkeeping services without being tied to a physical office.
Working remotely taught me how to build trust, maintain communication, and deliver results digitally — skills that are essential for modern small service businesses. Today, I continue to provide reliable, detailed, and proactive bookkeeping support to clients worldwide, helping them make better decisions with accurate, up-to-date financial information.
At the end of 2021, I founded G-Whiz Business Solutions, inspired not by a business textbook, but by real-life experience.
When my husband was unexpectedly retrenched, I became the sole breadwinner for eight months. That challenging period gave me firsthand insight into the importance of financial resilience, clear systems, and smart planning. I understood that a well-organized business can be a source of stability and peace of mind, even in uncertain times.
This experience also reinforced my belief in the power of humor — a little laughter can reduce stress, bring perspective, and even make bookkeeping more approachable. G-Whiz was born out of this combination: professional expertise, empathy, and a light-hearted approach that makes finance manageable and even a little enjoyable.
Through all these experiences, I’ve learned that numbers tell a story, but it’s the people behind them who make it meaningful. My goal is to help small service business owners gain clarity, control, and confidence in their finances — without overwhelming them with jargon or stress.
I bring a mix of professionalism, practical solutions, and a touch of humor, ensuring that even the most complicated financial tasks feel approachable. Because at the end of the day, a well-managed business + peace of mind + a good laugh = success that lasts.
Through G-Whiz, I help small service businesses take control of their finances by simplifying their day-to-day bookkeeping with QuickBooks Online. From setup to training and ongoing support, I ensure every client feels confident navigating their income and expenses with clarity and ease.
As a Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor with decades of experience in bookkeeping, financial management, and admin support, I provide practical solutions that reduce stress and bring order to financial chaos.
My work is a blend of professional know-how and a personal passion for helping small business owners overcome bookkeeping overwhelm—backed by real-life experience and a healthy dose of daily humor. I’m here to empower you with the tools, insight, and support you need to focus on what matters most: growing your business.
